Lithium-ion Powered Pallet Jacks Are HereElectric pallet jacks (EPJ) are versatile warehouse workhorses that can, in many cases, replace full-sized forklifts, allowing you to:

  • Optimize your space
  • Decrease the risk of forklift-related incidents
  • Increase your team’s efficiency

But not all pallet jacks are created equal. So, choosing the right one can depend upon a number of factors. We’ve chosen six features that we think paint a very clear picture of a pallet jack’s quality. Once we establish these factors, we’re going to narrow our focus and have a look at a pretty exciting and recent addition to our lineup – the Hangcha lithium-ion series light-duty walkie jack.

The 6 Factors That Indicate a Quality Pallet Jack

Light duty pallet jacks can suit a wide variety of applications, including supermarkets, warehouses, workshops, and even homes. Each of these spaces may have different needs, but having a look at the following six characteristics is a great way to determine the quality of a pallet jack, or most industrial equipment, for that matter:

  1. Performance
  2. Appearance
  3. Comfort of use
  4. Reliability
  5. Safety
  6. Maintenance

The load capacity is a crucial piece of information but it isn’t the only factor that speaks to a piece of equipment’s performance. Appearance may seem like a low priority, but having equipment that looks decent and is designed to resist wear and tear certainly doesn’t hurt.

Comfort is a huge factor – you want to make sure your team members are able to easily and comfortably operate the equipment, especially if they’re doing so for long stretches of time. Of course, none of these factors mean anything if the jack is not reliable.

The same goes for the safety of the equipment, this is one area that is not negotiable – safety is always the highest priority. Finally, maintenance should be simple, thereby making it possible to keep and operate this equipment far into the future.

Why The Hangcha Lithium-Ion A-Series is a Smart Choice for Your Warehouse

Lithium-ion Powered Pallet Jacks Are Here

First and foremost, the use of a lithium-ion battery is a massive improvement over traditional wet-cell batteries that require a considerable amount of maintenance compared to low-maintenance lithium-ion forklift batteries.

Li-ion batteries last two to three times longer, require virtually no maintenance, and go longer between charging. In fact, the li-ion batteries will generally outlast the usefulness of the jack. That’s just one aspect that makes these walkie pallet jacks superior – here are a few more reasons based on the criteria we mentioned earlier.

This A-series electric walkie pallet jack comes with a 4,000lb load capacity. Its AC traction motor uses magnets and no brushes, making it powerful and maintenance-free. Not only does this improve performance, it also lends to good climbing ability, while reducing the amount of heat it generates.

The CURTIS control system provides accurate and more efficient control of the motor, and every switch, controller, connector, and battery plug is sourced from top industry suppliers to ensure reliability, performance, and ease of service. It also uses regenerative braking for maximum efficiency and to prevent the pallet truck from sliding down ramps.

Again, while this may not be a factor at the top of everyone’s mind, the jack’s smooth, vivid profile was designed to be ergonomic. Powder-coated in a durable, easy-to-see green finish, the product is durable and designed to be highly resistant to everyday warehouse wear and tear.

Compact, lightweight, and flexible, the pallet jack is easy to steer (thanks to low steering resistance) and operate, even in tight spaces. The unique control head is the result of years of development and design, with a focus on creating controls that are intuitive and reliable, all of which are operable with just one hand.

We’ve already mentioned the superb reliability and longevity of the li-ion battery, but every part of this pallet jack was designed with reliability in mind. The harness and electrical parts operate as complete but separate systems from the lifting parts, leading to a substantial increase in reliability. The high-strength steel frame structure means the truck’s frame has a large residual load capacity, and therefore a long service life.

Likewise, every wire and cable uses waterproof plugs and connectors, along with a low-noise, low-vibration, high-performance hydraulic power unit that enables stable and reliable lifting and lowering of loads. There is also an electronic lifting limit switch to avoid overflow from the power unit to both save energy and protect the motor. Hibernation mode activates once the jack is not in use for a period of time, protecting the battery and optimizing the jack’s operational time.

The jack’s control head has a code lock system that prevents unauthorized personnel from using it. Not only does it have an anti-rollback function, it also includes release braking, reverse braking, and emergency braking to ensure maximum safety while in operation.

There is an emergency reverse button that will effectively protect the operator from injury in case the pallet jack moves forward in an emergency situation. And, thanks to the electronic lifting limit and mechanical limit switches, impacts can be prevented that might be caused by lifting loads to the top of the prescribed lifting range, protecting both the motor and the goods from damage.

Li-ion batteries last longer, charge faster, hold a charge longer, and are quickly and easily replaced. They come with a 5 year or 10,000 hour warranty. The key switches on the handle can be replaced separately and the power display on the battery offers a clear indication of the battery life and when it will need to be charged.

Its maintenance hatch is easy to open in order to access the truck’s components and all of the shafts are equipped with lubricated sleeves and oil cups, reducing the need for constant maintenance and promoting long service life.
