We offer in-person forklift operator training to individuals and teams in California. The training at our Livermore, Salinas, West Sacramento & Fresno locations are for individuals wanting to succeed as a forklift operator, or teams of fewer than 5 looking to be certified or recertified. We also offer on-site training (taking place at your convenience: day, night or weekend) for larger teams or operations. More information on on-site training can be found here.
From start to finish, your whole day of training will take about 4 hours.
The day will start with training from our Master Trainers, including video and discussion portions. You’ll be invited to ask questions throughout. At the end of the initial training, you will complete a final written assessment (don’t worry: our instructors will give you everything you need to feel ready to succeed on this assessment with ease).
The second half of the day will focus on hands-on training and safety practice. You’ll review pre-shift operator inspection guidelines. Then have individual practice sessions (guided by instructor support) as you drive an unloaded forklift throughout an obstacle course.
Once you’re fully confident in your skills, you’ll perform your final evaluation by driving a forklift with a palletized load. With this done, all that’s left to do is hand you your complete OSHA certificate and certification wallet card.
Yes. OSHA requires everyone who operates a powered industrial truck (including a forklift) to be certified and properly trained. Because safety recommendations/requirements can change yearly, OSHA also requires all California forklift operators to be recertified every 3 years.
You could. But online forklift certification programs miss out on the most important part of the forklift safety equation: hands-on experience. Even if you are getting recertified after decades as a forklift operator, the only way to be up-to-date with OSHA’s newest safety requirements is to refresh your training with the help of an in-person trainer.
Also, no one tells you this: but online certification programs only fulfill one part of OSHA’s certification requirement. Even if you complete your test online, you will have to find a place and time to complete a practical assessment. With us, you’ll complete your forklift training and receive your certificate all at once.
No. OSHA requires all forklift operators to get recertified every 3 years. That’s for good reason: around 25% of forklift accidents are caused by inadequate operator training. Staying up-to-date with your training is your best defense against forklift injury and accidents.
You must be at least 18 years old to get a forklift license.
No, you do not need a driver’s license to be a forklift operator.
